Marriage, Museum, Muse

Mon Nov 2, 2009, 1:36 PM
I haven't been able to update my gallery in ages. I managed to finish one painting, but I won't upload it, it's just not that special. My perfectionism has gotten worse. :) I am really trying to learn the basics now, especially the colours and drawing technique. So it still might take a while before you see any work from me...

But I wanted to post a short update on how my life is going.

On 20th September I married my boyfriend after 6 years of being together. Since it is utterly pointless trying to express how much I love this man, I will leave it to your own imagination :) The wedding itself was very small and relaxed, I even managed not to go along with all those traditions and got married in short green dress.

In October we went for our honeymoon to Venice, which was not only very romantic, but also very inspiring and interesting. We had a whole week there, so we could do a lot of sight-seeing and museum-running :)

In the Museum of Ca'Rezzonico, we both completely fell in love with one particular painting, I can't get it out of my head. It was depicting the rape of Lucretia, with her looking straight at the viewer... And her face, her expression - all-knowing, sad and yet peaceful resignation...
Unfortunately, I forgot the name of the painter. I was looking for it everywhere, trying to find it all over google and the official website of the gallery, just to be able to see the painting one more time... No such luck, though.
So, if anyone has seen the painting, could you help me with this? I am beginning to think it was an illusion, that there never was such beatiful picture and I had imagined it.

Well, that's it. I hope I will get around to comment on some of your work, too :)

oh, whatchu talkin about, your understanding of figures is very good. your style is so clean and realistic, im not to that point yet.
:p
:iconpontenigra:
I am not to the point of drawing figures without reference :) which means I might paint clean, but I am clueless about drawing from my mind :)
:iconlyrilyri:
oh i see. well if you draw from pictures long enough you start to memorize the forms and it becomes much easier.
:iconpontenigra:
I certainly hope so! Thanks for the praise anyway! We are both great, right? ;)
